Always have regular 6 month checks with the dentist
even if you have no pain. Potential problems can be attended to
before they have a chance to develop into something serious and
costly.
hygiene
We recommend regular 6 monthly visits to our Hygienist who can improve
and monitor your oral health. She is qualified to check your brushing
technique and give you individual advice on the care of your teeth,
recommending products which may help.
veneers crowns & bridges
Veneers are made of porcelain which is harder and more resistant
to stain than natural tooth. If cared for correctly they last around
10 - 15 years . Follow a normal brushing and flossing routine. As
crowns are also made of porcelain , wear and tear will be similar
as with veneers. Crowns and bridges are designed to be long term
treatments and may not need replacing for up to ten years if properly
cared for. Care is also the same as veneers, but particular care
must be paid cleaning underneath a bridge . Special products are
available, such as superfloss , which your dentist or hygienist
can show you how to use.
white fillings deep fillings & root treatments
These look natural and as the filling material sets immediately
you can eat straight away. However , over time they can discolour
and are generally not as strong metal fillings. Occasionally the
tooth can feel a little sensitive for a few days after being filled.
Regular visits to the hygienist and the use of stain removing toothpastes
can help in between times to help keep their white colour longer.
If you need to have a filling which is quite deep and close to the
nerve , or the roots need to be treated , it is not uncommon to
experience some discomfort for several days afterwards. However
this will normally subside as the area heals. If problems persist
please contact us.
