Use a soft to medium brush with a small head
which will reach all parts of your mouth easily. It may be necessary
to buy a interdental toothbrush, with a very small head, which will
reach right to the difficult to reach areas. Tooth brushes do not
last a life time. So dont keep a brush for more than about 3
months or after the bristles have started to spread out.
Wollaton Dental care have a selection of toothbrush sundries which
we recommend at prices bettter than the high streeet. Why not buy
your family toothbrushes at your next 6 monthly appointment. Speak
to your dentist about your choice of toothbrush & toothpaste.
We recommend you use a fluoride tooth paste. There are also toothpaste
designed specifically for sensitive teeth which may suit some patients.

Most important is to brush smart not hard!
Hard brushing will damage your teeth & gums
Brush your teeth at least twice a day for 2-3 minutes. Every morning
& every evening, spending 3 minutes (not 45 seconds)
Use a pea sized blob of fluoride toothpaste.
Brush all the surfaces of the teeth, concentrating
on two teeth at a time. Brush in a circular movement not up &
down.
Remember to brush the gums, especially where the
tooth meets the gum.
Dont share your toothbrush , as research
shows you can transfer infection.
Flossing is an important part of daily oral hygiene. Flossing will
remove the food particles & bacteria between your teeth - areas
which our toothbrush cannot reach!
Take a piece of floss about 10-12 inch long tie into a loop. Hold
it tightly between your thumb & forefingers with about 1/2inch
of floss between them.
Gently ease the floss in a sawing motion between
the teeth remember to slide the tooth & gum line. Keep the floss
adjacent to the tooth. Dont miss any teeth. Ask your dentist
or the hygienist about the correct flossing technique. You can do
more damage than not flossing at all if your not doing it correctly.
