Eating the right kind of foods is not easy
these days as there are so much choice. However they may look &
taste great, but they may not be doing the right things for your teeth
& gums. Sugar is seen to give us energy but is be detrimental
to our teeth.
The bacteria in plaque, turns sugar & starches in the foods we
eat combine to form an acid which attacks our teeth. Somethings
to remember:
What makes it difficult today is that sugar goes
under a number of different & some what misleading names, such
as glucose, fructose, sucrose, dextrose & there are others,
so watch those food labels.
All the foods that are good for your health are
also good for your teeth & gums These include foods such as
milk, water, cheese, vegetable & fruit.
Try & only eat at meal times as snacking during
the day increase the amount of acid attacks on your teeth. If you
do snack try eating nuts, cheese, unsweetened biscuits, crackers,
or bananas (non acid fruit) . Cheese neutralises the acid that causes
tooth decay
Limit the amount of fruit juices & fizzy drinks
in your diet, as the acid in these drinks causes the tooth enamel
to thin out, causing, among others, tooth sensitivity.
