Inlays
are relatively new solutions to the problem of replacing holes caused
by decay. Cosmetically it makes more sense to use a tooth coloured
porcelain to fill holes.
your appointment
The best inlays are made from porcelain, they are the state
of the art way to fill holes left by decay
The decay is removed, & an impression is taken
of the tooth . This is used to create a plaster cast on which the
inlay can be modeled.
On your 2nd visit, usually a week later, the inlay
is fitted. The result is an inlay which precisely fits the tooth,
modelled in detail to resemble a natural tooth.
Generally the life expectancy of porcelain
inlays is approximately 5 - 20 years and mainly recommended on molar
and premolar teeth.
A porcelain inlay can be treated like any
other tooth & therefore needs the same care & attention.
Brushing & flossing is obviously important. Also ensure you
visit us for 6 monthly consultations.
